Finished in warm elm, the grain of the solid reclaimed wood really stands out. Ideal for storing everything from bedding and clothes to toys and games, our blanket trunks are based on the traditional trunks of ancient China, they were often stacked in twos or threes in bedrooms or placed on top of cabinets . The circular brass lock plate gives each one that classic oriental style, enhanced by the red tassel that comes with all of our trunks. In Chinese homes wooden trunks and chests were extremely common and used for all kinds of storage, with camphor wood being popular as it acts as a natural insect repellent but elm was also favoured. Our version is produced using proper dovetail joints and with a metal stay to prevent the lid from falling shut. The inside is finished in a dark wood stain.
