TV chef and author Ching-He Huang picks her favourite Shimu pieces

We are very pleased to announce a new collaboration with the TV Chef and author Ching-He Huang MBE, known as 'Ching'.

A customer of Shimu herself, Ching has worked with us over recent weeks to select some of her favourite pieces from amongst our wide range of Chinese furniture and oriental home accessories. These include several items that Ching has bought for her own home and office, as well as other picks from amongst our wide range of furniture, lighting, wall art and ceramics.

Ching is best known as an Emmy-nominated, award-winning TV Chef and cookery book author, recognised for popularising Chinese cuisine and food culture. Her approach to cookery stems from the traditional farming community of her grandparents in Southern Taiwan.

Ching’s ethos is to use fresh organic ingredients, making cooking fun, accessible and nutritious, appealing to both the East and West. Her persona and life style also reflects her food, Chinese with a modern Western touch, with heart.

Her re-connection with her Chinese heritage through food has given her a deep appreciation for Chinese culture, and this extends to the world of furniture, antiques and interior design. Ching has recently purchased several pieces from Shimu to decorate her home, including a pair of our iconic horseshoe armchairs - reproductions in a classic Chinese design that dates back centuries.

Says Ching, "I am very excited to collaborate with Shimu. Their furniture is truly unique - often one of a kind antique or vintage pieces that have a real history and character, or pieces produced from sustainable sources in China. The woodwork has been recreated to produce lasting, high quality designs with beautiful Chinese heritage and symbolism. I am a huge fan and I look forward to working together to bring a touch of Eastern comfort and style to your home, treasured pieces we hope you will love and be in your family for generations to come."

All of us at Shimu are delighted to be working with Ching on this selection and are very much looking forward to collaborating with her on future projects.
